National Chief Phil Fontaine is in Saskatoon today to help launch a First Nations plan for creating opportunities.

The Assembly of First Nations has joined forces with Make Poverty History to launch a First Nations-specific public education and awareness campaign.

Acting FSIN Chief Guy Lonechild says First Nations have a lot to offer in the way of solutions.

A former member of the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples, Paul Chartrand, is on hand to speak about the lack of progress made in closing the poverty gap between Native people and the rest of Canada.

Today’s launch comes on the 10th anniversary of the RCAP report.
