Elders from around the north are scheduled to attend a five-day cultural gathering in Prince Albert this week.

Beginning today, several residents from Dakota, Cree and Denesuline First Nations will hold share their traditions with each other and discuss a wide range of issues.

Conference coordinator Marcel Bird says this is the fourth time the cultural gathering has been held.

He explains the gathering is intended to shed light on a number of traditional and sacred practices.

Bird says around 100 to 150 elders showed up for last year’s event.

Some of this week’s special events includes a tour of sacred Dakota land and a horse dance.
