Claude Resources is hoping to expand its Seabee gold mine north of La Ronge.

It is looking for $20 million in debt financing to make that expansion possible.

The company figures the current price of gold ($1,000 an ounce) should make it fairly easy to attract investors.

Company spokesman Dwight Percy says the company wants to do two things: extend the mine shaft another 300 metres, and replace much of its “rolling stock”, like trucks, in order to increase production.

Percy says there will be some employment opportunities as a result of those changes.

But he says the best opportunities for jobs will be through the supply of services to the expanded mine.

Percy says about 220 people work at the mine now.
