The province’s education minister is looking forward to a national dialogue on Aboriginal education next year.

In February, Saskatchewan will host the 2009 Summit on First Nations, Metis and Inuit Education.

Deputy Premier Ken Krawetz says the conference will involve education ministers from across the country, and national Aboriginal leaders.

Krawetz says the session will be about strategy-building and sharing best practices, while respecting Aboriginal jurisdiction.

Krawetz isn’t sure if the federal government’s much-criticized two per cent cap on annual funding increases for First Nations post-secondary education will be addressed at the summit — but he says it’s an issue that’s on his government’s radar screen.
