Laliberte Under Fire From Canadian Alliance

Now that Jeremy Harrison has been officially nominated as the Canadian Alliance candidate for the Churchill River riding, he is taking direct aim at MP Rick Laliberte.
Harrison is a 25-year-old law student from Meadow Lake, and won the Canadian Alliance nomination for the riding last week.
Harrison says he has no shortage of ammunition with which to attack Laliberte, but feels Laliberte has especially failed the riding on the gun registry file. Harrison estimates 90 per cent of the residents in the riding oppose the gun registry, but notes that Laliberte has voted in favour of increased spending on the registry in the House of Commons.
Harrison also says Laliberte isn’t doing his riding any favours with his position on the softwood lumber dispute. He points out Laliberte was quoted in a newspaper article as saying he agrees with the American argument that Canadian governments subsidize the lumber industry.
As well, Harrison says Laliberte has been basically invisible in the southern portion of his riding.
