Nearly a month after a missing Prince Albert man’s family came forward seeking answers, RCMP’s major crime unit has announced another step in its search for clues in the case.

Troy Cecil Napope, a One Arrow band member, was last seen leaving a party in Prince Albert in late May. That same day, the grey car he’d been driving when he left was found burnt north of the city.

RCMP’s northern major crime unit focused on the Whitfield Road area – which is where the car was found – in a search on Wednesday.

Investigators are treating Napope’s disappearance is being treated as a homicide, but are still considering Napope to be a missing person because his body has not been found.

At 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the RCMP stated its officers would be using specialized equipment.

The RCMP news release did not state what officers were looking for, instead simply alerting the public the reason for the visibility of officers at that time.
