The Regina Metis Council is inviting people to attend a vigil today for Louis Riel.

This year’s event is different than previous year’s versions because the group, in cooperation with the RCMP, will be allowed on the spot where Riel was executed 125 years ago today.

Event organizer Russell Fayant says Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people are welcome to attend the commemoration of Riel’s life.

Fayant says those interested in attending can meet at Optimist Park by 4:30 p.m.
