The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations continues to call on the federal government to restore funding to the First Nations University of Canada.
Yesterday, FSIN Chief Guy Lonechild was joined at a news conference in Saskatoon by Assembly of First Nations National Chief Shawn Atleo, the rest of the AFN executive, FNUC students and alumni.
Lonechild remains optimistic the federal government will still come through with money for the school.
Atleo says it wasn’t that long ago that the Prime Minister offered an apology for the residential school legacy, saying that kind of oppression would never happen again.
Lonechild says the onus is on the federal government, now that the FSIN and FNUC have done everything asked of them.
He says a business plan will be given to the federal government in a matter of days, and hopes that will be rewarded with funding.
