A $1.2 million expansion has been announced for the welding lab at North West Regional College in Meadow Lake.
The federal government is providing the lion’s share of the money, while the province is contributing $243,000.
The school has offered the welding course for the past 10 years.
College CEO Bryan Nylander says this money will allow the school to increase the number of students it trains.
Meantime, the two levels of government are also spending $9.2 million on new housing spaces for students.
Nearly 100 living spaces and three townhouses will soon be available to students enrolling at the school.
