Teen arrested, later released without charges after investigators reviewed video evidence and consulted Crown prosecutors.

Saskatchewan RCMP have released new details about a homicide investigation in Pelican Narrows that resulted in the death of a 22-year-old man.

According to the RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit, the incident began on October 29 at approximately 6:53 p.m., when a 22-year-old man approached two teenage youths and discharged a firearm in their direction.

Investigators say one of the youths then discharged a firearm toward the 22-year-old man.

About seven minutes later, at approximately 7 p.m., Pelican Narrows RCMP received a report of an injured man at a residence in the community. Officers located the 22-year-old suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to hospital by EMS, where he was later pronounced dead.

On November 1, a teenage youth contacted the RCMP Homicide Investigation Unit and turned themselves in. The youth was arrested in connection with the death.

However, RCMP say the youth was later released without charges after investigators gathered additional evidence, reviewed video footage and consulted with Crown prosecutors.

Police reported that neither of the youths involved sustained physical injuries.

The Saskatchewan RCMP Homicide Investigation Unit says it is not seeking any additional suspects, but the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact their local police service or call 310-RCMP.
