At their regular parade on Oct. 21, Kamsack air cadets spent time assembling displays of poppies that will be placed at various businesses and organizations within the community prior to Remembrance Day.
Forty-five such displays were being created and each included stacks of distinctive red poppy pins accompanied by coin collection boxes.
The Remembrance Day displays were to be distributed by Oct. 31, when cadets will be personally distributing poppies at the Co-op grocery and gas bar and at the Kamsack Petro-Can outlet.
The Royal Canadian Legion’s National Poppy Campaign was launched on Oct. 24, which is a new permanent date going forward, says information on a Legion webpage. New and returning initiatives will highlight this year’s period of Remembrance, right up until Nov. 11.
“Each year, Canadians step up with amazing support for the National Poppy Campaign,” said Sharon McKeown, Dominion President. “Their generosity and caring are what allow us to host a range of programs and support initiatives for our veterans and their families across the country.”
