Two men are facing a combined 44 charges following an investigation involving a stolen vehicle, firearms and a flight from police in the Battlefords area.
Battlefords RCMP say officers were called to a residence on Red Pheasant Cree Nation at around 11:30 a.m. on October 15th after receiving a report of individuals with firearms entering the home.
The occupants of the home did not report any physical injuries.
Responding officers located the suspects travelling on a nearby rural road and attempted a traffic stop.
Police say the vehicle did not stop and fled from officers.
The vehicle was eventually stopped on Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation, where two suspects were arrested without incident.
During a search of the vehicle, police say officers seized two firearms. Searches of the two individuals also resulted in the seizure of a small amount of suspected cocaine, 34 MDMA pills and several pharmaceutical-style pills.
Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services assisted with the investigation.
As a result, 22-year-old Trevor Auger of Edmonton and 29-year-old Riley Baptiste of Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation each face multiple firearms-related charges, along with charges for failing to comply with release conditions and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
Auger is also charged with impaired operation, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Both men appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on October 16.
