The head of the Metis National Council says Aboriginal people don’t want to miss tonight’s opening ceremonies of the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.

Clem Chartier says he can’t get into too much detail because he’s been sworn to secrecy — but he says the Aboriginal youth involvement in tonight’s event will be unprecedented.

Chartier also feels Aboriginal people will be very pleased with how they’re represented in the festivities.

Chartier says several Saskatchewan Metis youth will be participating.

He is also grateful to the Four Host First Nations for agreeing to include Metis in the ceremonies when they weren’t obligated to do so.
