A youth centre in the Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation sustained interior and smoke damage following an early morning fire.
According to a statement from emergency officials, a call reporting smoke coming from the BOCN Youth Centre was received at 4 a.m. Tuesday morning.
BOCN Fire and Emergency Services arrived on scene at 4:08 a.m. and began fire suppression efforts.
Officials say a window was found propped open when crews arrived, with heavy smoke coming from the building.
Rosthern Fire & Rescue joined the response at 4:25 a.m. and assisted in extinguishing the fire.
The fire was brought under control, but officials report damage to the interior of the building along with extensive smoke damage.
