Regina Police are urging drivers, pedestrians and cyclists to use extra caution after a recent spike in injury collisions across the city.
Police say 10 collisions involving vehicles and pedestrians, cyclists or e-bike riders have been reported over the past 10 days, resulting in multiple injuries and one fatality.
Three more serious collisions have occurred since a road safety reminder was issued on Sept. 25.
On Sept. 26, officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle at Dewdney Avenue and Park Street. An adult male motorcyclist was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.
On Sept. 27, a six-year-old girl was injured after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Pasqua Street and Parliament Avenue. Police say the driver had stopped at a red light and was turning right when the collision occurred. The child was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation remains ongoing.
Then, on the morning of Sept. 28, police were called to the area of Sandringham Road and Cumberland Road after an adult female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. She was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Regina Police are reminding motorists to ensure their view is unobstructed, watch for pedestrians at every intersection and remain alert when other vehicles stop near crosswalks.
Pedestrians are being encouraged to cross at designated locations, make sure traffic has stopped before entering each lane and remain aware of their surroundings.
Cyclists, e-bike and e-scooter riders are also reminded to wear helmets, follow the rules of the road and dismount when crossing streets where required.
