Saskatchewan RCMP say an increased police presence remains in Pelican Narrows as officers continue searching for suspects following a firearm-related incident early Monday morning.
Police say they received a report at about 1 a.m. on Sept. 21 that a firearm had been discharged at a vehicle. One of the vehicle’s occupants was treated at a local clinic for injuries described as non-life-threatening.
RCMP located a suspect vehicle, described as a 2016 black Dodge Journey with Saskatchewan licence plate 894 KUG, at about 4:15 a.m.
Police say the vehicle failed to stop when officers attempted a traffic stop and a pursuit followed. During the pursuit, officers discharged a firearm toward the vehicle.
The vehicle was later found abandoned on Highway 135 and the occupants are believed to have fled on foot.
No arrests have been made.
Highway 135, which had been closed during the police operation, has since reopened to traffic.
The search for the suspects continues with assistance from the Saskatchewan RCMP Critical Incident Response Team.
Investigators are asking anyone who saw the black Dodge Journey in the Pelican Narrows area late Sept. 20 or early Sept. 21, or who has information about the incident, to contact RCMP at 310-RCMP.
