RCMP are advising residents of an increased police presence north of Pelican Narrows as officers conduct an ongoing investigation in the area.
Police say the activity is taking place between Pelican Narrows and Sandy Bay. As a result, Highway 135 is closed between the two communities, and motorists are unable to travel north from Pelican Narrows at this time.
RCMP have not released details about the nature of the investigation, describing it as active and ongoing.
Police said they will notify the public if any imminent risk to public safety is identified.
At this time, residents are not being told to remain in their homes. However, RCMP are asking people to avoid areas where officers are working and to follow any directions provided by police, including road closures and turn-back points.
Police are also reminding the public not to post photos or videos showing police locations while the operation is underway.
Further information is expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
