Wakaw RCMP are requesting public assistance to locate two wanted men following an armed incident on One Arrow First Nation that triggered a temporary community lockdown on Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 2:50 p.m. on Sept. 16, 2026, police received multiple reports of two armed men involved in an altercation. Officers immediately responded, prompting local leadership to initiate a precautionary community lockdown.
Investigators confirmed both individuals were carrying firearms before fleeing the scene on foot. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported. RCMP deployed a remotely piloted aircraft system (drone) to search the area, but the suspects were not located. Arrest warrants have since been issued for both men.
Police are searching for 18-year-old Shakobey Sanderson—described as 6’0″ and 165 lbs with black hair and brown eyes—who is charged with pointing a firearm and weapons possession, as well as 23-year-old Bruce “BJ” Matchap—described as 6’0″ and 180 lbs with facial tattoos—who faces identical weapons charges along with three counts of failing to comply with a release order. If spotted, do not approach either suspect. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Shakobey Sanderson or Bruce Matchap is urged to contact Wakaw RCMP directly by dialing 310-RCMP or 911 in an emergency.
