Rosthern RCMP are investigating after a suspicious item was discovered at a business on Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation on the evening of September 15.
Police say they were notified of a suspected explosive device at approximately 8:15 p.m.
Officers immediately began an investigation and called in the Saskatchewan RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit to assist.
The business was evacuated, traffic was redirected away from the area, and nearby residents were advised to leave as a precaution.
After examining the item, the Explosive Disposal Unit determined it did not contain explosive materials.
The investigation remains ongoing as RCMP work to identify any suspect or suspects involved.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident, or anyone who may have dash-cam or surveillance footage showing suspicious activity in the Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation area on September 15, to contact Rosthern RCMP by calling 310-RCMP.
