Two women are facing multiple firearms-related charges after Nipawin RCMP seized three firearms from a stolen SUV following an investigation into a vehicle that fled from police.
RCMP say officers first spotted the SUV on Sept. 6 when they noticed the licence plate did not match the vehicle it was attached to.
Police attempted a traffic stop, but the SUV fled.
Two days later, officers located the same vehicle parked outside a residence on 7th Avenue West in Nipawin. Three occupants, a man and two women, exited the SUV when police approached.
According to RCMP, the man and one woman fled on foot, while both women were arrested. The male suspect has not yet been located.
A search of the SUV resulted in the seizure of three firearms, ammunition and a mask. Investigators also determined the vehicle had been reported stolen from Prince Albert.
As a result of the investigation, 45-year-old Genevieve McKay of Carrot River and 37-year-old Stephanie Harris of Cumberland House have each been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, unsafe storage of firearms, multiple firearm possession offences and possession of a firearm, weapon or ammunition in a motor vehicle.
Genevieve McKay also faces additional charges of failing to comply with release order conditions and obstructing a peace officer. She was further arrested on an outstanding warrant from Carrot River RCMP.
Both women appeared in Nipawin Provincial Court on Sept. 9, 2026.
Nipawin RCMP continue to investigate and are working to identify and locate the male suspect.
