A 14-year-old victim was assaulted and threatened with bear spray during an attempted theft in Saskatoon.

Three male youths are facing robbery charges after a 14-year-old boy was assaulted during an attempted e-bike theft Thursday evening.

Police were called to the area of Kloppenburg Street and Kloppenburg Link around 7:40 p.m. on Sept. 3 after reports of a robbery in progress.

Investigators say three youths attempted to steal the victim’s e-bike, assaulted him, and pointed bear spray at him before fleeing the scene.

Officers quickly located and arrested all three suspects. During a search, police recovered the handle of a cap gun.

Two 15-year-old males and one 14-year-old male have been charged with robbery.

One of the 15-year-olds also faces charges of possession of a weapon, disguise with intent, and use of an imitation firearm.

Police have not released the identities of the accused under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
