Three individuals have been charged by Southey RCMP in relation to a shooting.
On August 30, 2026 at approximately 11:30 p.m., Southey RCMP received a report of a shooting at a residential property in the RM of McKillop, SK.
Investigation determined a group of individuals attended the property and an altercation occurred between them and occupants of the residence. During the altercation, a firearm was discharged, injuring an adult male. The group of individuals stole items from inside the residence and left the area in a vehicle.
The injured male was taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as serious, but non-life-threatening, in nature.
Southey RCMP engaged Lumsden and White Butte RCMP, along with Saskatchewan RCMP’s Police Dog Services, Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan, and Critical Incident Response Team for assistance. The Regina Police Service’s Aerial Support Unit was also engaged to assist.
As a result of investigation, officers located the suspects’ vehicle at a residential property in Silton, SK. RCMP officers attended the property. Two males and a female were arrested.
While at the property, a Saskatchewan RCMP police dog located a sawed-off firearm in the yard. Southey RCMP seized the firearm, along with multiple knives, a machete, and brass knuckles, at the property.
Resulting from further investigation, 31-year-old Preston ‘Jerome’ Josie from Hatchet Lake First Nation, 43-year-old Chetwood Hutton from Prince Albert, and 37-year-old Jennae Boucher from Govan are each charged with:
- one count, aggravated assault, Section 268(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, discharge a firearm while being reckless, Section 244.2(1)(b), Criminal Code;
- one count, robbery with a firearm, Section 344(1)(a), Criminal Code; and
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000, Section 355(b), Criminal Code.
