A 26-year-old Kamsack man is facing multiple criminal charges following an armed incident and police standoff on the Keeseekoose First Nation over the weekend.
According to Kamsack RCMP, officers received a report of a suspicious armed male in the community around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 30.
An initial investigation determined the suspect had entered a local property, injured a dog, and fled the scene on foot before barricading himself inside a nearby residence.
When officers arrived at the home and informed the suspect he was under arrest, he initially refused to come outside. The Saskatchewan RCMP Critical Incident Response Team was called in to assist, and the man was safely taken into custody shortly after.
Following the investigation, 26-year-old Juaquin Quewezance of Kamsack was charged with several offences, including animal cruelty, weapons possession, mischief, resisting arrest, and breach of probation.
Quewezance was remanded into custody and was scheduled to make an appearance in Kamsack Provincial Court on Tuesday.
Police confirm the injured dog is currently recovering.
