A 23-year-old man from Yellow Quill First Nation is facing 30 weapons-related charges after Rose Valley RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on the First Nation on August 31.
RCMP say officers searched the property at about 9:45 a.m. as part of an ongoing investigation.
During the search, police seized 7 firearms, including 1 semi-automatic firearm, 2 air rifles and ammunition.
Two adult men were arrested at the residence.
As a result of the investigation, Kynan Desjarlais has been charged with multiple offences under the Criminal Code, including possession of restricted firearms with ammunition without a licence or registration, unsafe storage of firearms, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of firearms, and possession of a firearm or ammunition in a motor vehicle.
He is also charged with 10 counts of weapons possession contrary to an order and failing to surrender authorization.
RCMP say Desjarlais was also arrested on an outstanding warrant related to a June 2026 investigation on Yellow Quill First Nation.
Those charges include assault with a weapon, discharging a firearm with intent, using a firearm during the commission of an offence and robbery with a firearm.
Desjarlais appeared in Yorkton Provincial Court on September 1.
The second man arrested at the property was released without charge.
The investigation remains ongoing.
