Wanuskewin Heritage Park has received national recognition for its Indigenous-led governance and community innovation.
The heritage park was presented with a Fulbright Canada Honouring Nations Award on Monday evening in Victoria, B.C., during the Victoria Forum 2026.
The awards celebrate Indigenous governments and organizations that demonstrate visionary leadership and offer solutions rooted in Indigenous knowledge and values.
“This recognition speaks to the many people who have helped shape Wanuskewin and to the Indigenous leadership, knowledge, and relationships that continue to guide our work,” said Andrew McDonald on behalf of Wanuskewin leadership.
Park CEO Jenaya Chutskoff noted that the recognition comes at a pivotal time as Wanuskewin continues to advance its nomination for UNESCO World Heritage status.
