A 63-year-old man from the Prince Albert area is dead following a single-vehicle collision south of Blaine Lake early Wednesday morning.
Blaine Lake and Rosthern RCMP responded to a report of a crash on the Petrofka Bridge on Highway 12 shortly after 3 a.m.
Investigators determined a northbound minivan struck a roadside safety barrier before colliding with an unoccupied, parked heavy equipment vehicle.
Emergency medical responders declared the driver and sole occupant of the minivan dead at the scene. Police say his family has been notified.
Highway 12 was temporarily closed while emergency crews worked, but the road has since reopened.
Blaine Lake RCMP are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash alongside a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
According to Saskatchewan RCMP, there have been 61 fatal collisions resulting in 74 deaths on police-patrolled roads in the province so far in 2026.
