A 41-year-old man has died following an industrial accident at a construction site in Saskatoon.

Saskatoon Police say officers were called to the 3000 block of Meadows Parkway shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a report of an industrial accident.

Investigators determined the man was working at the construction site when he was struck by a piece of heavy equipment. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the victim’s next of kin have been notified, but his name will not be released.

The Saskatoon Police Service and Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal workplace incident.

Police had initially asked the public to avoid the area while emergency responders and investigators worked at the scene. No further details have been released.
