Reported bear interactions are down in parts of northern Saskatchewan this year, despite several recent attacks, including one that left two people dead.
Prince Albert National Park says it has responded to 29 bear interactions so far this year, compared with 44 at the same point last year.
Reports of bear interactions in the La Ronge area have also declined compared with last year.
The decrease comes as concerns about bear safety remain heightened following a fatal attack in the McTavish Lake area last week.
Two people were killed in that attack.
Officials continue to encourage people travelling in bear country to remain alert and take precautions, including properly storing food and garbage and avoiding anything that could attract bears.
People are also encouraged to report potentially dangerous bear activity to the appropriate authorities.
