The La Ronge Regional Fire Department has announced an immediate fire ban for the Town of La Ronge, the Northern Village of Air Ronge, and Lac La Ronge Indian Band communities: La Ronge #156 and Kisaki #156B reserves.
The ban, supported by local municipalities, Lac La Ronge Indian Band, and the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, took effect at 3:00 p.m. on July 14, 2026, and will remain in place until significant precipitation is received.
The fire ban applies to all open fires. However, traditional smokers, propane barbecues, propane-fueled fire pits, and briquette-fueled cooking devices are still permitted. All active burn permits have been suspended.
Officials say the ban is necessary due to extreme heat, elevated fire danger ratings, and dry conditions, which have increased the risk of urban wildfires across the region.
Residents are reminded that violating the fire ban could result in charges for Fire Department responses, with costs starting at $1,300.
The La Ronge Regional Fire Department is asking everyone to follow the restrictions and help protect local communities during this period of heightened wildfire risk.
