The Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation Emergency Operations Centre reviewed the wildfire activity, community preparedness and smoke conditions for their communities at risk.
Officials say there has been no significant fire growth reported since yesterday, while crews continue strengthening containment lines and carrying out values protection work.
In Sandy Bay, the Church Fire remains contained and poses no threat to the community.
In Southend, firefighters continue making progress on the SEIR01 Fire, which is mapped to be about 2,278 hectares in size.
Ground crews are focusing on the fire’s west flank and are planning burnout operations to strengthen containment lines.
Smoke conditions are expected to remain low to moderate through the weekend, although communities near active fires may experience brief periods of heavier smoke depending on wind direction.
Emergency health officials say prolonged periods of unhealthy smoke are not expected over the next 48 hours and do not recommend evacuating priority residents based on smoke conditions alone at this time.
PBCN says clean air shelters remain available, additional home air purifiers are being delivered to Southend, and emergency evacuation plans can be reactivated immediately if conditions change.
The next Emergency Operations Centre update is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
