A section of Little Red River Park will be temporarily closed on Friday, June 26, due to rising water levels on the North Saskatchewan River and the potential for water to back up into the park.
The closure will extend from the Highway 55 entrance to Cosmo Lodge, including the lodge itself. The Knotty Pine Bistro will also be closed.
“This precautionary closure is being implemented to ensure public safety as river levels continue to rise due to the rainfall in Alberta and the expected rainfall this weekend,” said Tim Yeaman, Parks and Open Spaces Manager. “A decision regarding reopening the affected section will be made early next week following a review of the latest river flow data and an on-site assessment. The safety of our residents and visitors remains our top priority, and we will only reopen the area once conditions are deemed safe for public access.”
The City will review river flow data and conduct an on-site assessment early next week before deciding when the affected area can safely reopen.
