The Grande Prairie RCMP have charged Joseph Kidd (32), a resident of Grande Prairie, with numerous sexual offences.
First Incident:
On April 17, 2026, Grande Prairie RCMP initiated an investigation into an alleged sexual assault after a 14-year-old female victim attended the detachment. The victim was from B.C. and said she met Kidd via social media. Kidd drove to B.C. to pick her up and drove her to his residence in Grande Prairie. She was there for about a week and was able to leave when Kidd left to go to work. As a result of this investigation, Kidd was charged with the following:
- Sexual assault
- Sexual interference
- Forcible confinement
- Assault while choking
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Kidd was remanded until April 20. He was released on April 30, by a Judge, on several conditions.
Second Incident:
On May 10, 2026, Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a 911 call at Kidd’s residence. Investigation revealed that Kidd had driven to Lloydminster to pick up an 18-year-old female. They drove to his residence where Kidd allegedly assaulted her when she refused to have sexual relations with him. Kidd was arrested and charged with the following:
- Assault
- Assault while choking
- Sexual assault
- Fail to comply with release order (x3)
After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Kidd was released on June 1, 2026, by a Justice of the Peace with several conditions and $7500 cash bail to attend Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on June 22, 2026.
Third Incident:
On June 18, 2026, a 15-year-old female attended the Grande Prairie detachment to report that Kidd had been following her around. She stated that he offered her alcohol if she got into his vehicle. On one occasion, she got into his vehicle, and he drove them to his residence, where she was sexually assaulted before leaving. There were multiple incidents which occurred between June 4 and 18. As a result of these incidents, Kidd was charged with the following:
- Criminal harassment
- Sexual interference
- Sexual assault
- Fail to comply with release conditions
Fourth Incident:
As well, on June 18, 2026, Grande Prairie RCMP received a 911 call from the mother of a 12-yr-old female who stated that a male driving a yellow convertible Chevrolet Camaro tried to lure her child into his car. RCMP made immediate patrols and located Kidd driving the suspect vehicle. As a result of this investigation, Kidd was charged with the following:
- Abduction of a person under 14 years old
- Fail to comply with release conditions
After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Kidd was remanded in custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on June 22. His subsequent appearance is scheduled for July 2, 2026.
