A 22-year-old woman is facing multiple charges after an armed robbery and police pursuit that ended with a vehicle entering the North Saskatchewan River.

Prince Albert Police have charged Destiny Hansen with robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failing to stop for police.

She made her first court appearance June 12 in provincial court and was remanded in custody.

Officers were called around 2:15 a.m. June 11 to a report of a vehicle stolen at gunpoint in the 2700 block of 2nd Avenue East.

The vehicle was located minutes later, but the driver failed to stop, prompting a pursuit due to the violent nature of the call.

The vehicle travelled eastbound on Marquis Road and northbound on 15th Avenue East before entering the river near River Street East around 2:20 a.m.

Police say two women were inside the vehicle.

The driver was located on the riverbank and treated in hospital for minor injuries.

The second occupant, a 27-year-old woman, was later found uninjured away from the river.

Police say no charges will be laid against the passenger.
