People who need identification to secure employment, open bank accounts, access government programs, or file taxes will have an opportunity to get help at the upcoming Super ID Clinic hosted by the Prince Albert Grand Council (PAGC).

The clinic will take place on Thursday, June 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1211 First Avenue West in Prince Albert and is open to anyone who needs assistance obtaining identification or navigating government services.

One of the biggest barriers many people face when applying for jobs is a lack of valid identification. Kelcy McDougall says to help address that issue, the clinic will cover the costs of several essential forms of ID, including birth certificates, Social Insurance Numbers (SIN), Saskatchewan health cards, and status cards.

Passport services will also be available, although passport fees are not covered.

“The clinic covers the financial cost of all the IDs, helping remove financial barriers for people who need them,” said Kelcy McDougall, Urban Services SGI Safety / Community Access. “We want to make sure everyone has access to the identification they need to access services, employment, and other opportunities.”

Representatives from Service Canada and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will be on site to help attendees access benefits and programs such as Employment Insurance, the Canada Child Benefit, GST credits, disability tax credits, pensions, and tax filing assistance.

Individuals without any identification are still encouraged to attend, as staff can help begin the process of obtaining a Saskatchewan health card using only a mailing address.

“This event is really about helping people achieve employment, open bank accounts, and access the benefits that come with having proper identification,” McDougall said. “When you have your foundational ID and your SIN, it opens the door to filing taxes, accessing government programs, and receiving important monthly and quarterly benefits.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring any existing or expired identification, along with documents showing their name and address if available. Complimentary snacks, refreshments, and coffee will be provided, though visitors should be prepared for possible wait times.

The event operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and organizers recommend arriving early as doors may close if capacity is reached.

PAGC plans to host similar clinics quarterly throughout the year to continue helping residents access the identification and services they need to build a stronger future.
