Cumberland House RCMP have charged a man following a suspicious residential fire that left one person seriously injured earlier this week.
Police say officers, firefighters and EMS responded to a home in Cumberland House at around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday after receiving reports of a structure fire.
Investigators say five adults were inside the residence when the fire broke out. Four people were treated at the scene, while another person was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious. The home was destroyed in the blaze.
RCMP say evidence gathered during the investigation led officers to believe the fire was suspicious in nature.
As a result, 36-year-old Justin Sewap of Cumberland House is facing four counts of arson with disregard for human life along with four counts of attempted murder.
Sewap is scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday in Nipawin.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Serious Crimes Unit assisted with the investigation.
