An male adult is facing multiple charges after a teenage girl was reported missing and later found injured in North Battleford.
Battlefords RCMP say officers received a report of a missing female teenager at approximately six o’clock on April 25, 2026. The investigation led police to a motel room in North Battleford, where an adult male was located.
Officers searched the room and found the missing teenager locked inside a bathroom with injuries described as serious.
As a result of the investigation, 22‑year‑old Deland (Nipin) Okanee of Turtleford, Saskatchewan, has been charged with sexual assault, abduction of a person under 16, sexual interference, forcible confinement(x2), assault, obstructing justice, and uttering threats.
He is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on May 22, 2026.
RCMP say no further information is being released to protect the victim’s privacy and well‑being.
