Black Lake RCMP were proactively patroling when they noticed a truck driving erratically, and initiated a traffic stop on Black Lake Denesuline First Nation.
While approaching the truck, officers observed that the driver was showing signs of impairment and observed a large quantity of alcohol in plain view.
During a search of the truck, 17 bottles of hard liquor and 76 bottles/cans of coolers were confiscated.
They arrested both occupants of the vehicle.
After further investigation, a 20-year-old female from Stony Rapids has been charged with operation while impaired of motor vehicle and operation of a conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 mg per 100 ml of blood.
She and an adult male from Sandy Bay have been charged with one count, sell or offer to sell, display, or keep beverage alcohol.
They are scheduled to appear in appeared in court in Black Lake on June 2, 2026 (Information #90542889).
