Saskatoon Centre MLA Betty Nippi‑Albright has announced she will sit as an Independent, effective immediately.
In a public statement, Nippi‑Albright said the decision follows ongoing concerns about a lack of support and disagreements with the current direction of the Saskatchewan NDP under leader Carla Beck.
Nippi‑Albright emphasized that her priority remains the people of Saskatoon Centre.
She said serving as an Independent will allow her to better advocate for her constituents, particularly Indigenous communities and Treaty Rights holders whose voices are often overlooked.
She reaffirmed her commitment to continue her work with integrity, focusing on representing the needs and concerns of her community.
