A 29-year-old man has pleaded guilty to arson causing damage to property for sparking a wildfire in northern Saskatchewan.

Jason Halkett started the fire near Weyakwin last summer.

The blaze caused damage to structures and forced several communities to evacuate.

The fire burned more than 200,000 hectares of land.

Halkett is scheduled to appear at a sentencing hearing in Montreal Lake on May 7th.
