The RCMP have arrested and charged two males following a shooting that occurred on Big Island Lake Cree Nation on April 8th, at approximately 1:50 p.m..

Officers investigation determined that a male was walking on Big Island Lake Cree Nation when a truck with two males inside pulled up beside him. The trucks occupants were armed with a firearm and they discharged the firearm, injuring the male pedestrian.

The truck left the scene and the pedestrian was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.

RCMP searched the area and located a vehicle matching the truck’s description at a residence on the Big Island Lake Cree Nation. With the help, they were able to get the occupants of the residence to exit and successfully arrested the suspects.

As a result of continued investigation, 27-year-old Damon Kiseyinewakup and 31-year-old Sloane Ochuschayoo both from Big Island Lake Cree Nation are charged with: discharge firearm with intent and aggravated assault.
