On March 27, 2026, shortly after midnight, Loon Lake RCMP observed an ATV driving with no lights on and attempted a traffic stop on Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation.
The ATV did not stop and fled from police and the officers located the ATV abandoned a short time later at a business in Loon Lake.
Meadow Lake Police Dog Services was engaged to assist in the search for the suspect and officers later observed the suspect near the abandoned ATV.
He fled on foot but with the help of Meadow Lake Police Dog Services, officers located the male and he was arrested.
During the male’s arrest, officers seized 64 grams of cocaine, 24 grams of methamphetamine, a large sum of cash, alcohol, a cell phone and an ATV key from the male suspect.
As a result of investigation, 36-year-old Ozzie Kytwayhat of Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation is charged with: flight from police officer (x2); dangerous operation of a motor vehicle (x2); resist arrest(x2); possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; and possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2).
Kytwayhat appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on March 30, 2026.
