A man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly hit an RCMP officer with a vehicle earlier this week.
RCMP say officers attempted to pull over a white SUV for a traffic stop on Monday afternoon in Meadow Lake.
Mounties say the driver of the vehicle fled away at a high rate of speed and avoided attempts from officers to pull the vehicle over.
According to the RCMP, an officer would be struck by the SUV while deploying a tire deflation device.
RCMP say the device would successfully incapacitate the SUV and the driver of the vehicle and two passengers would be arrested a short time later.
The officer would be treated in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
RCMP announced on Friday that the driver had been charged with attempted murder for hitting the officer.
The driver, identified as 26-year-old Keistein Michell from Prince Albert, also faces several other charges including aggravated assault of a police officer, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He was scheduled for a court appearance on Thursday in Meadow Lake Provincial Court.
