The Financial Post has included a Saskatoon-based uranium mining company with mines in northern Saskatchewan in its list of the “10 Best Companies To Work For In Canada”.

The publication cites Cameco Corporation’s mentoring programs, subsidies for professional designations, career planning services and skilled trades training as reasons behind its high ranking.

The FP also likes Cameco’s phased-in retirement and fully-paid retiree health coverage for workers — the latter doesn’t have an age limit.

As well, the company is lauded for its maternity leave, which features top-up benefits to 100% of a worker’s salary for six weeks.

Cameco’s Kaylynn Schroeder tells the FP the company has so many employees that have spent their entire career with Cameco — including several under the age of 50 who have worked at least 25 years — that the company feels “a sense of obligation for their financial security when they’re here and after they leave us”.
