Carmen Corrigal has been elected to council in the Northern Village of Ile-a-la-Crosse following the community’s by-election held March 11.

Official results released by returning officer Donny Favel show Corrigal receiving 65 votes, the highest total among the three candidates running for councillor.

Rodney Belanger finished second with 54 votes, while Anthony Hodgson received 44 votes.

According to the official statement of results, Corrigal received 44 votes on election day and 21 through the advance poll, giving her the winning total.

A total of 163 ballots were cast in the by-election.

The Northern Village thanked all candidates for participating in the campaign and recognized the work of election staff.
