The Prince Albert Parkland Ambulance say that winter weather is making road conditions difficult for everyone.
Ambulance crews need extra room to respond safely to emergencies. When you see emergency vehicles with red lights and sirens activated, please pull over and give them space to move.
In some residential areas in Prince Albert, crews may park in the middle of the street to avoid getting stuck in snow-covered roads. We understand this may be frustrating, but please be patient — they are responding to someone’s medical emergency and will clear the area as quickly as possible.
For our rural residents, snow-covered roads can significantly slow response times. If you are calling for help and know that one route is clearer than another, please share that information with our communications team so EMS can reach you safely and quickly.
Finally, remember that shoveling snow is strenuous exercise. Take your time and frequent breaks. If you experience shortness of breath, chest pain, or feel unwell, stop immediately and rest. If symptoms persist for more than a few minutes, call 9-1-1 or your local emergency number right away.
