The Prince Albert Grand Council (PAGC) will convene senior decision-makers Friday February 13, 2026, in response to recent hospital security incidents involving Indigenous patients that have sparked calls for greater accountability across Saskatchewan.

The decision-focused roundtable, set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at PAGC Urban Services in Prince Albert, follows a December incident at Victoria Hospital and a January death at Royal University Hospital.

Both cases have intensified scrutiny around hospital security practices, use of force, and cultural safety standards.

“This meeting is about moving from outrage to outcomes,” said Grand Chief Hardlotte. “Safety and dignity are not optional. They are the baseline.”

Grand Chief Brian Hardlotte said the meeting is aimed at securing concrete commitments on policy, oversight and accountability, with public progress reporting expected to follow.

“This is not about targeting individual workers,” said Grand Chief Hardlotte. “This is about fixing systems that carry real risk when they fail Accountability has to be visible, documented and enforced.”

PAGC aims to secure consensus on a joint statement outlining shared commitments, establish terms of reference for an ongoing implementation table, and identify immediate action steps to be completed within 30 to 60 days.

Public reporting on progress is also expected.
