Turnor Lake RCMP say they have arrested and charged a 23-year-old man after he crashed into a police vehicle while trying to flee from police.
RCMP say Trent Janvier, from La Loche, was wanted on warrants from both the Saskatoon Police Service and La Loche RCMP.
Mounties say they attempted to initiate a traffic stop on an SUV Janvier was in, outside a home in Turnor Lake on Sunday morning.
Police say as an officer got out of the police vehicle the SUV began to drive and collided with the vehicle.
RCMP say the vehicle would collide with the police vehicle another time, collide with a nearby house, and narrowly miss the officer all while trying to flee.
The officers were not injured on the scene.
RCMP would later find the vehicle in the ditch with a female passenger inside.
According to investigators, the male driver of the SUV assaulted the female passenger and refused to let her leave. She was said to have reported non-life-threatening injuries.
The man fled into a nearby treed area, but would eventually be arrested at a residence in Turnor Lake later that day.
23-year-old Trent Janvier now faces several charges including assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and forcible confinement.
Janvier appeared in court on Monday and is due back in court on February 23.
