Two people have been charged following a shooting in Cumberland House on January 22, 2026.
Police were called to a local business around 8 a.m. after receiving reports of an injured man.
Officers and EMS found the male suffering from gunshot wounds and he was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious.
RCMP say their investigation determined that two armed men broke into a residence in the community, where an altercation occurred.
One of the suspects was shot by a third man who was inside the home and the two suspects fled the scene. with the injured man later arriving at the business where police were called.
Around 1:40 p.m., one male exited the residence and was arrested without incident. Two other individuals also exited; one was arrested on unrelated charges, while the other was released without charge.
29-year-old Preston Crane of Cumberland House is charged with discharging a firearm with intent and aggravated assault. He is scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on January 30.
In a separate arrest on January 25, 2026, 20-year-old Jaidyne Lalibertey was taken into custody after he was located in a vehicle in Cumberland House.
Ammunition was found during a search of the vehicle and Lalibertey faces multiple charges, including extortion, break and enter with intent, and several firearms-related offences.
He is scheduled to appear in court on February 5.
The investigation is ongoing.
