31-year-old Justin Charles is wanted after authorities located and rescued two people who were lost in the forest in the RM of Buckland.

In the early morning of January 7, 2026 at approximately 3:00 a.m., Prince Albert RCMP received a report of a male being chased with a weapon in the RM of Buckland, SK.

Investigation determined an altercation occurred between two males and a female in a vehicle.

One of the males then assaulted the others, held them at gun point, and took them into a forested area.

The firearm was discharged; it did not injure the victims; they fled the scene and became lost into the forest.

Officers began working to locate the victims using a remotely piloted aircraft system, and located the male in the forest.

While speaking to the male on the phone, Prince Albert RCMP gave verbal instructions to the male on how to exit the forest using the compass on his phone, while also using the spotlight on the drone to light his path and guide him out safely. Officers also activated their police vehicle’s lights and sirens as a guidance aid. As a result, officers led the male out of the forest, and he was taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.

Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services was engaged to assist Prince Albert RCMP in the search for the female victim. Ground searches, guided by the arial view from the drone, led to officers locating the female victim in an SUV in a remote location in the RM of Prince Albert. As a result of investigation, Prince Albert RCMP used snowmobiles to reach the victim and safely get her to an ambulance that was waiting at the scene. The female was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.

As a result of continued investigation, 30-year-old Justin Charles from Prince Albert is charged with: two counts, assault, Section 266, Criminal Code; one count, pointing a firearm, Section 87(1), Criminal Code; one count, carrying concealed weapon, Section 90(1), Criminal Code; one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code; one count, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon/restricted weapon, Section 91(2), Criminal Code; one count, discharge firearm while being reckless, Section 244.2(3), Criminal Code; one count, operation while prohibited, Section 320.18(1)(a), Criminal Code; one count, negligence causing bodily harm, Section 221, Criminal Code; and one count, possession of a firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle, Section 94(1), Criminal Code.
