The Regina Police Service is urging residents and businesses to be on alert following a 78% increase in financial crimes so far this year.
Between January and November 2025, police have received 781 reports of fraud, counterfeit, and identity theft, compared to 437 during the same period in 2024. Reported losses now total about $10 million, with more than 100 active investigations underway.
Recent cases include large-scale internal thefts at local businesses — with losses ranging from $200,000 to nearly $300,000 — and scams targeting individuals through stolen identification, counterfeit cheques, and online or phone fraud.
